  january 2016 jw broadcasting..... video starts at 35:30. a local design construction department manager named travis brooks tells a story about a building project on the island of yap, micronesia.

  a small kingdom hall needs to be expanded because the facility wasn't big enough for those in attendance.

  I miss the old halls with local character. Limestone blocks, adobe, logs, plain frame. Now they are bland and soon to become even worse IF any are built

  Is it possible for any Country to have “Reasonable” Gun Laws? What would they be?

  so the new biden/harris gun policies are starting to appear.

  it’s not clear yet, what they will be.. some suggestions; confiscate all guns.------buyback programs in each state.. there is much talk on social media that if this happens, the pandemic, + all the riots, + all the damaged property, + all the annual murders in america, - put together-will be like a sunday afternoon picnic, compared to all the deaths and property damage that will result because of “civil uprising” by millions of 2nd amendments advocates and just plain gun lovers.

  americans love guns!.

  I will argue that Australian laws are not all reasonable. Confiscating. 22 pump rifles? Now lever actions are in the sights? The linits on hunting gun capacity have to do with conservation and " fair " sport.

  Since I am US, the revolution was not against a private army owned by George, but against overbearing laws from the government. Are there any plans for draconian laws now?

  Shepherding visit

  i cannot seem to find any information on which elder/s are assigned to do a shepherding visit on a congregation member.

  does one of them have to be the member's field group leader?

  can any elders do a shepherding visit at a member's request?

  The prescribed method is the service leader and whomever he chooses, maybe a ministerial servant. You can ask for someone else, they will exchange information anyway, especially if any flags are raised.

  Most of us are looking for ways to dodge any visits

  okay, i haven't been to a meeting in over 17 years and i don't live anywhere near the place i grew up.

  i have had minimal contact with my jw family, essentially just occasional phone conversations.

  i think they could easily guess that i'm inactive but they pretend not to know and they've never shunned me.

  Funeral talk

  i was recently present at a witness funeral (by zoom) and the brother did do a nice talk about this sister who passed away.

  her and her husband had pioneered for many years, but she succumbed to cancer.. in his closing remarks, of course he talked about the resurrection, and remarked how the husband (still alive) would soon be back together with his wife.. certainly fine thoughts, but imagine if this guy ended up getting remarried?

  isn’t that putting a lot of pressure on someone, when it isn’t even mentioned in the bible at all?.

  We had a sister die recently. Her husband had been attending zoom with her (terminal) he told the elders she requested a celebration of life without a big religious to do. Brother pushy said we'll see about that!!! Haven't heard of any memorial yet.

  did the awake and watchtower magazines have a price tag on the front page saying .25 cents or one quarter dollars in print.

  i remember they we're 25 cents americans dollars.

  Merely the cost of production. No matter that the sales brochures at work cost less. Remember the stories of people who were going to die if they couldn't find a quarter and we couldn't leave a free one.

  Commercial mags not had paid staff but also more content and color pictures.

  The standards in 3rd world are lower. I question enough clean water to wash the sand, not to mention the round grains instead of sharp sand. Since armageddon is coming the hall needs only stand a few years. The good old wattle and daub with a thatched roof was not as bad as we think. I asked a brother who went to Warwick about the similarity with quick builds. He said the work there was not like the sloppy work in local kh,s. And EVERYTHING he did was torn out the next day, and he was skilled.

  Are any books being placed anymore?

  a recent post by atlantis/ petra was about destroying old books, some of which had been studied and placed over the years.. is witnessing these days only about directing people to jworg, are there books that are placed, or is hq concerned enough about having ever-changing beliefs in print that they avoid it?.

  The Ezekiel book is unavailable in paper. Haven't seen any mags either. The line on Ezekiel is that it keeps getting revised so the paper copy is out of date. Maybe Ezekiel should sue for theft of intellectual property.

  wife just listened to this new one on jworg.

  it put her to sleep.

  it has lots of experiences, says to maintain a routine, next month they will probably say to break routine (they should, better idea).. it has the maddening footnote: "jehovah is god's name".
